“How’s life?”

This might be a simple question to answer for some, but our well-being, be it personal or national, is made up of so many different things. This could include how happy or anxious we feel, to how often we volunteer, to the abundance of important wildlife species in the UK.

Measuring national well-being helps us to understand how we’re doing beyond standard economic measures. Our data at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows us what matters most to people when it comes to living a good and meaningful life.

At our next instalment of the ‘Bringing data to life’ webinar series, we will delve into the fascinating world of well-being statistics for beginners. We will explore how we measure well-being at the ONS, how we adapt to reflect societal changes, and explain why it’s a crucial aspect of national statistics.

We will also be joined by guest speakers to explain how well-being statistics are used at a national and local level. They will share how well-being statistics can inform public policy and ultimately improve the quality of life for individuals and communities.

This interactive webinar is for everyone and will give you a beginners’ understanding of how well-being statistics are created and used to improve the lives of all.

Learn more about the series

From health to inflation or the environment to migration, we explore how statistics are used to help us make better choices and improve our public services.

‘Bringing data to life’ is a series of online events, hosted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which explore how your data makes a difference. We will explain the life cycle of statistics, from how we gather the data to releasing the figures that shape the future.

You will hear from people who work with data across government, exploring how they create statistics, where they have made an impact, and how your data is kept safe. These interactive events are open to anyone who wants to know more about how we tell the story of our society through numbers.

The events will take place through Microsoft Teams. They will also be recorded and available to watch later. We encourage you to support the ‘Bringing data to life’ series by using #StatisticsForThePublicGood on LinkedIn, X and Threads.
